Porsche has built an exclusive series of 21 convertibles car in 1952 and designed especially for American Market. It is widely acknowledged as the most visually stunning. This aluminum roadster, Chassis 12362, known internally by Heuer as K8/14. Porsche launched Porsche 356 America Roadster in 1952, then launched Speedster and was officially named the Typ 540 K/9-1 in 1954.
Porsche focusing on the benefits of low weight, the 356 America featured an aluminum body built by Gläser. The front windshield were split and could be removed, saving another 120 pounds. There were no side windows and the doors were hollow. It only had an emergency folding roof and could keep up with larger sports cars of the era.
